Darmstadt, around 1908. Iron and copper. Executing: Stolbergsches Hüttenamt, Ilsenburg am Harz. On ground with executing mark and model no. 4048. Worn. H. 22 cm, 25 x 16 cm. - German architect and craftsman, training as cabinetmaker by his father, from 1893 to 1900 studied at the Mainz School of Applied Arts and the Dresden Art Academy. Teaching at the Arts and Crafts School in Magdeburg. Particularly well known as a designer of furniture and designer of interiors, in 1906 he was appointed to the Darmstadt artists' colony, where he was the leading architect after the death Olbrich.
