Japan, Edo-period (1603-1868). Porcelain with blue painting. Elegant shape with articulated shoulder and straight neck. Large revolving motif with carps in an idyllic pond, lined by pine trees, bamboo and rocks. The shoulder with a broad foliage border and hares, framed by Lingzhi fungi, including 4 Ruyi-shaped reserves with phoenix birds. The neck with a border of peony flower reserves on a stargrid underground. Retouched fissure at the bottom. H. 60 cm. - Prov.: From the estate of the famous Hamburg painter Dorothea Maetzel-Johannsen (1886-1930).
