According to the legend he came to Danae in the form of golden rain and fathered Perseus. - Cosmopolitan italian history a. figure painter. P. was pupil of P. Pagani. He participated in the decoration of the Pontificia Biblioteca Antoniana in Padua in 1702, in 1708 he went to London with M. Ricci, since 1713 he worked for the Düsseldorf court. Thereafter he went among others to Antwerp, Paris a. Vienna. Besides S. Ricci a. J.
