Kusnezow/Russia, around 1910. Fine stoneware with polychrome painting and gold decoration. Each in the centre with a motif with children (sign. in Cyrillic 'Eliz. Bem.'), the rim with reffering Russian proverbs in Cyrillic. Manufactory mark. Min. traces of age. Diam. 21,5 cm. - Famous Russian illustrator and painter (Elisaveta Merkuryevna Bem), studied at the Imperial Academy of Art in Saint Petersburg, especially well-known for her watercolours and subtle depictions of children, which very often were published as postcards, even many works in glass and ceramic, for which she gained several exhibition medals.
