China, 17th cent. (late Ming-dynasty/Transitional-period). Porcelain with blue painting. Octagonal-shaped vase with articulated and bellied shoulder section and narrowed foot. Revolving decoration with the rare motif of kingfishers and insects flying over a moon-lit lotus pond with sumptuous vegetation. The shoulder with a broad Ruyi border. The upright mouth with crenulation-border (min. fissure). Above the foot a lancet-shaped leaves-border. H. 30 cm.
