Nymphenburg, c. 1920. Porcelain with chinoiserie-motifs in tooled gilding on a matt black ground. 10 parts: plate (diam. 34 cm), mocha pot (h. 18 cm), 6 cups with saucers, sugar bowl and creamer. - Lit.: Ziffer, Nymphenburger Moderne, München 1997, p. 312f. - active as a painter at the Nymhenburg manufactory from 1912 until his death. He based himself on chinoiserie engravings and prints of the 18th century, translating these in a modern language of large gilt chinoiserie figures finely burnished and toolded against a subtle mat ground.
