G., who, in the end, walk home side by side. Poem and painting are dedicated 'To the memory of your friend and brother August Tischbein 1824 (Zum Andenken von Deinem Freund und Bruder August Tischbein 1824)'. - German painter from a well-known a. large family of artists. T. studied 1824-26 at the Berlin academy, thereafter in Dresden. In 1829 he travelled Rome, in 1832 the Netherland, London, Switzerland a. Munich from where he repeatedly visited Tyrolia a. Upper Italy. In 1837 he was in Rome again a. also went to South Italy. In 1839 he settled in Trieste.
