1908, etching, 22 x 26,5 cm, lo. ri. autographed Emil Nolde, some dam., unframed. - Cat. rais.: Schiefler/Mosel 104. - For the original artwork © Nolde Stiftung Seebüll. - Painter, graphic artist a. sculptor, one of the leading German expressionists. After being trained at the Sauermann sculpting school N. worked in Switzerland a. Munich. Because the local academy refused him he studied at A. Hölzels art school, follwoed by studies at the Académie Julian in Paris in 1899. Thereafter he lived in Copenhagen a. Berlin where he for a short time became member of the artist's group 'Brücke' in 1906/07. He was co-founder of the 'Neue Secession' in Berlin in 1910. In 1926 he began to erect his world famous house a. studio in Seebüll. Proscribed as 'degenerate' during the Nazi era he received many honours after 1945.
