Meissen, around 1740. Egg-shaped body with cylindric neck, cover with baluster-shaped knob. Vase and cover painted with bouquets of woodcut-flowers, in between insects, butterflies and some botanic flowers. Neck with gold border. Min. firing cracks. Large 'AR' mark in u'glaze blue. H. 37,5 cm. - The 'AR' mark was introduced in 1723 and at least until 1736 it was reserved for the private use of the king or for the pieces which he gave away. Comp.: R.
