China, Republic Period (1912-1949). Porcelain with polychrome painting. Front with large motif depicting four figures under a pine, verso inscription. Four-characters artist's mark 'Xiping caolu' (希平草庐, thatched hut with hope for peace). H. 40,5 cm. - This mark was used by Wang Dafang (王大凡 1888-1961), one of the members of 'The Eight Friends of Zhushan' - a group of porcelain painters featuring the best artists of the Republic Period.
