Design 1934. Executing before 1940. WVZ 291. Bronze with brown patina, H. 106 cm, verso artist signum and foundary stamp 'H. Noack Friedenau Berlin'. - Prov.: This Bronze is the so called 'Keitel Guss, Hamburg'. The sculpture was shown and bought at the exhibition 'Deutsche Bildhauer der Gegenwart' from the Hamburger Kunstvereins in 1940. Confirmation and invoice of the Hamburg Art Association exists. - These cast is the Alcina II (WVZ 291), which differs from the Alcina I (WVZ 290) by ist dissolved hair. From Alcina II exists two cement casts (Staatliche Galerie Moritzburg, Halle und Museum der Bildendenden Künste, Leipzig). There are known 4 early bronze casts by Noack, amongst them one at the Gerhard Marcks House in Bremen. This cast of Alcina II is referred by Marcks as a cast by 'Frau Keitel, Hamburg'. - We thank Dr. Wiegartz from the Museum Gerhard Marcks in Bremen for her information. - German sculptor, graphic artist a. draughtsman, since 1907 he shared a studio with R. Scheibe, he taught at the Berlin art school before being called as teacher to the Weimar Bauhaus by W. Gropius, inspired by L.
