Meissen, around 1739, painting based on chinese motivs in the style of Adam Friedrich von Löwenfinck. Double-gourd vase form. The base decorated with a continous ornamental pattern, the body painted with pairs of butterflies and phönix birds in rich variety of colours. The upper section decorated with lotos and a pine bough, a fantasy bird and butterflies. Gilded rims. The border prof. rest. Crossed swords mark, impressed '21'. H. 33 cm. Comp. regarding the double-gourd form: Cat. Meißen porcelain of the 18th cent., Ernst Schneider foundation, Munich 2004 (different painting).
