Tibet, 19th cent. Distemper on cloth. In the centre of the mandala Buddha Shakyamuni in a round reserve surrounded by cartouches in form of petals with other buddhas and bodhisattvas. Below the mandala depiction of Padmasambhava, the founder of Tibetan buddhism, and beside him Tsongkhapa, a reformer and founder of the Gelug-school. Above the mandala more buddhist teachers and deities. Back with mantra. 61 x 43 cm.
