Roman, 2/3th A.C. Creamy marble. Head of a statue based on the model of the life-size sculpture of the love godess Aphrodite/Venus Capitolina (3th B.C) in the museum Capitolino in Rome. The head shows in her hair's structure with drilling channels and grooves typical characteristics of the Antonine period. Mounted on a wooden base. . Head h. 20 cm, base H. 10 cm. - Provenance: Formerly collection Peter Gan (= Richard Möring, 1894 Hamburg - 1974 Hamburg), German writer, reader and translator, who lived in Paris between 1946-1958.
