German, 20th cent. Limetree, h. 80 cm, lo. le. sign. 'Flath'. - In a lively surface treatment the artist shows the topic of the calling of the first disciples (Mt. 4, 18-22): Jesus is calling the fisher Simon Peter and his brother Andrew standing in a boat . - German wooden sculptor, painter and draftsman. 1922 - 1924 apprenticeship by the ivory carver Karl Schneider, 1928 - 1930 education at the Kiel School of Art and Crafts, then at the Hamburg State School of Art. Since 1932 as a freelancer in Kiel and foundation of the art association Kiel. Numerous works in Hamburg. His extensive oeuvre contains more than 3000 sculptures and 40 retables.
