Ludwig Dettmann, framed under glass, uninspected out of frame. - Landscape, portrait, genre a. flower painter, one of the pioneers of impressionism in Germany, studied 1894-97 at the Hamburg school of applied arts, thereafter at the Berlin Academy under E. Bracht, F. Skarbina a. A. von Werner, in 1900 he became head of the Königsberg Academy, together with M. Liebermann a. W. Leistikow he was one of the co-founders of the Berlin secession in 1898.
