Around 1900. Bronze with brown patina, h. 32 cm, on a marble base h. 7,5 cm, on the plinth sign. 'Freese fec.', foundry mark: 'Akt. Ges. Gladenbeck Berlin'. Chip to the base. - - German sculptor. After his apprenticeship as an ornament sculptor he attended the Art Academy Berlin by Albert Wolff and Fritz Schaper, then he settled down with his own workshop in Berlin. Inspired by elements of neobaroque and neoclassicism F. created large-format figures and groups, numerous monuments, portrait-busts, architectural decoration and animal sculptures.
