Oil/canvas, 30,5 x 27,5 cm, lo. ri. sign. a. dat. Vaudechamp 1824, on the reverse stamp 'Belot, rue de l'Arbre sec'. - French portrait painter. V. was pupil of A.-L. Girodet-Trioson. He exhibited at the Paris Salon between 1817 a. 1848. By the early 1830s he moved to USA where he became the leading portrait painter of New Orleans.
