A magnificent Potpourri Vase with Watteau scenes

Meissen, around 1860. The model from 1760. At its base Flora with a flower basket, on the front side of the baluster-shaped vase a polychrome Watteau scene, on the reverse side a flower bouquet. The reserves are surrounded by large sculptural flower work. The lid with a magnificent finial made of brilliant sculptural flowers. Separate base. Crossed swords mark. Chips. H. 79 cm (vase), h. 13 cm (base). - According to Berling Kaendler created the vase type on behalf of Friedrich the Great. The vase was repeated in various sizes and modified in the sculptural work. - Literature: Berling 1911, p. 60 and fig. 114; Rückert 1966, p. 151, no. 761, plate 179.
