London, 1970. Gilt Sterlingsilver, stamped assay mark, mm: 'AGB' for Adrian Gerald Benney, underside also stamped GERALD BENNEY LONDON, with master enamellers mark AAE for Alan Alfred Evans. Rectangular form, the sides with vertical bark-effect textured surface and underside with textured rayed surface, suede interior, the hinged cover with a vibrant translucent dark red enamelled surface and crowned monogram of Queen Elizabeth II 'E II R'. H. 4,5 cm, w. 10,5 cm, d. 7 cm. - The box was probably a gift to Helmut Schmidt by Queen Elizabeth II in occasion of her visit to Germany in 1978. - Provenance: Helmut Schmidt, Ruth Loah. - An influential British silver and goldsmith.
