Munich, around 1906. Bronze with black patina. Sign. on the plinth 'FRANZ VON STUCK' and foundry mark 'GUSS C. LEYRER MÜNCHEN'. Overall height 64 cm. - The bronze sculpture has been presented by Stuck first in 1893 at the 'Glaspalast München'. It ranks among the earliest sculptural works of the artist. 23 exemplars are known so far. The present cast must be executed probably around 1906 because the artist receives at that time the Bavarian Order of Merit and was elevated to the peerage. - Exhibition: Museum Wiesbaden; Museum Villa Stuck, München - Literature: Exh. cat.
