Southern China, probably province Yunnan, late Ming dynasty, 16/17th cent. Firegilt bronze with remains of red laquer. Enthroned figure, in his hands holding the Almsbowl (?) wearing long flowing robes, the hair pulled up in a high chignon, tiny pinholes in his face show that the figure had a beard before. The inscription at the reverse suggests that the sculpture is a donation by Xu Yongli.
