Schibnev 1912, min. rest., relined. - The painting was made shortly after Schibnev moved to Kerch and shows boys on the beach of the Black Sea or of the Sea of Azov. - Russian painter. S. studied 1903-10 at the St. Petersburg academy under P. P. Chistyakov, possibly also under I. E. Repin. In 1906 he travelled France, a journey that had an important artistical impact. In 1911 he settled in Kerch a. worked as drawing teacher before being appointed director of the archeological museum in 1921.
