Around 1874. Model by Gengoult Prouvé, decor by Émile Gallé. Red earthenware with faience glaze. Sitting cat looking to the left, wearing a striped jacket with flower pattern. Attached glass eyes. Sign. At the bottom: Émile Gallé (in blue). Min. chipped. H. 32,5 cm; comes with two-flame table lamp mount with wooden plinth and beige shade. H. 72,5 cm. - One of the most famous glass artists of the French Art Nouveau. Many designs of ceramic, glass and furniture in the style of historicism and art nouveau. Studied in Weimar and Meisenthal, staied in London and Paris, the first successes at the World Exhibition in Paris in 1878. - Mus: represented in leading art museums in the world. - Lit: B.
