Oil/canvas/wood, 60 x 74,5 cm, lo. ri. sign. M. Larsson, relined. - One of the most important Swedish landscape painters of his time. L. studied at the Stockholm academy a. was pupil of V. Melbye in Copenhagen. Since 1852 he continued his studies under A. Achenbach in Düsseldorf. He travelled to Paris with a scholarship in 1855 a. exhibited there at the World's Fair in that same year. In 1857 he became member of the Stockholm academy, in 1861 he was made honorary member of the St. Petersburg academy. Thereafter he settled in London.
