Meissen, around 1750/55. Polychrome paint. The figure is inspired by an engraving by Ferriol, edited 1714 in Paris with the title 'Receuil de cent estampes représentant differentes Nations du Levant'. Crossed swords mark at the reverse side of the plinth. Min. chipped, rest. to the arrow tip. H. 21,5 cm. - German porcelain modeller and sculptor, taught by the sculptor Thomae in Dresden, whose baroque influence is especially visible in his animal figures, in 1731 appointed court sculptor by August the Strong, at the same time beginning his work for porcelain manufacture Meissen, which he directs for many years, his works are among the highlights of early European porcelain.
