Early 20th cent. Bronze with dark patina, h. 55 cm, on top side of the plinth sign. 'Seffner' and foundry mark 'Akt. Ges. Gladenbeck. Berlin', polygonal green speckled marble base, h. 2 cm. - German sculptor, studied at the Leipzig Art Academy and returned to his hometown after a two-year stay in Italy. Seffner was spezialised in portraits, but also created numerous monuments, for example the Goethe memorial or the New Bach memorial in Leipzig. Furthermore several funeral monuments of artistic value in the cemetery of Leipzig originate from him.
