Late 19th cent. Bronze with dark patina. Seitl. sign. ''GEORGES-BAREAU', on lower edge of the plinth foundry mark: 'F.BARBEDIENNE.FONDEUR'. H. 70 cm. - French sculptor, studied at the École des Art Décoratifs and École des Beaux Arts in Paris and was a pupil of Ch. Gautier and J. Thomas. From 1889 he exhibited regularly at the Salon and won a gold medal at the 1900 Exposition Universelle in Paris. Mus.: Nantes, Musée des Beaux Arts; Paris, Musée d'Art Moderne, Musée du Petit Palais.
