Around 1910. Bronze with dark patina. On the top side of the octogonal plinth sign. 'RUDOLF MARCUSE', foundry mark: ''AKT-GES GLADENBECK BERLIN'. Stepped, green speckled marble base. H. 44,5 cm (figure), h. 15 cm (base). - Berlin sculptor, studied at the Berlin Art Academy under Ernst Herter, created small sculptures in Art Nouveau and Art Déco style mainly in bronze and porcelain (designs for KPM and Rosenthal) and also the monumentes of Moses Mendelsohn (Berlin) and Carl Hagenbeck (Stellingen). 1936 the artist emigrated to England and lived in London until his death.
