Carved limewood with flat reverse, sign. 'FLATH' at lower right. H. 45,5 cm, w. 44 cm, d. 16 cm. - In a lively surface treatment the artist shows the topic of the adoration of the newborn Child Jesus by the Three Magi. - German wooden sculptor, painter and draftsman. 1922 - 1924 apprenticeship by the ivory carver Karl Schneider, 1928 - 1930 education at the Kiel School of Art and Crafts, then at the Hamburg State School of Art. Since 1932 as a freelancer in Kiel and foundation of the art association Kiel. Numerous works in Hamburg. His extensive oeuvre contains more than 3000 sculptures and 40 retables.
