Meissen, Marcolini period (1774-1814). Polychrome painted porcelain. Upright on an oval base with sculptural leaves in front of a tree stump. Crossed swords mark with a star. Prof. rest. H. 26,5 cm, l. 20 cm. - German sculptor and modeller, learned in England the casting of plumb, brass and steel, worked after his return to Dresden 4 years for the court sculptor Vinache and entered 1735 the Meissen porcelain manufactory a s an assistant of J. J. Kaendler, he then became Kaendler's first employee and was envolved significantly in the development of numerous masterpieces.
