Late 19th cent. Bronze with dark patina. Sign. to the top side of the plinth in Cyrillic and Latin characters 'Moritz Wolff', on the short side of the plinth foundry mark 'Akt:Ges:Gladenbeck Berlin'. Patina min. worn, small connecting wire of the oxen yoke lost.20 x 33,5 x 18 cm (figure group), h. 2,5 cm (marble plinth). - German sculptor, studied athe Berlin Akademie der Bildenden Künste. Wolff was famous for his lively and near-naturaly genre scene of the russian life of the 19th century. Lit.: Thieme-Becker, Berman, her as A. M. Wullf.
