France, 19th cent. Female figure holding a fire pot, accompanied by a putto with torch. Laterally sign. 'A. Carrier'. Heavy traces of oxidation and very dirty. H. 93 cm. - French sculptor. After his education as a chaser and goldsmith he studied decorative arts at the Petite École, from 1848 he was modeller for various English porcelain manufactories for example Minton and Wedgwood, 1855 he returned to Paris and worked as an extremely productive sculptor especially for decorative sculpture preferring antiques and contemporary topics.
