Paris, around 1870. Bronze, fire gilded, sign. 'F. Barbedienne', polychrome enamel. Probably after model from Louis-Constantin Sévin (1821-1888), worked for Barbedienne form 1855 - 1888. H. 22 cm. - Maison Barbedienne was founded in 1834 by Ferdinand Barbedienne (1810-1892) and was one of the most important companies of art bronzes in the 19th cent. in France, the most eminent sculptors of 19th cent. in its day were under contract there.
