Late 17th cent., oil/canvas, 76,5 x 94,5 cm, relined. - Provenance: Private collection Sweden. - One of the most important masters of Dutch landscape painting of the Golden Age, father of Eglon and Johanes v.d.N. A.v.d.N. was first recorded in Amsterdam in 1630 where he set up a tavern and a wine shop because he wasn't able to make his living by his paintings. Because of his novel night landscapes with their virtuosic illumination a. their poetic concept he is today considered to be one of the most important landscape painters of his time.
