Oil/wood, 22 x 28,5 cm, lo. ri. monogr. AVDN, min. rest. - One of the most important masters of Dutch landscape painting of the Golden Age, father of Eglon and Johanes v.d.N. Aert was first recorded in Amsterdam in 1630 where he set up a tavern and a wine shop because he wasn't able to make his living by his paintings. Because of his novel night landscapes with their virtuosic illumination and their poetic concept he is today considered to be one of the best landscape painters of his time.
