Oil/wood, 26 x 102 cm, some rest. - On God's order Abraham departed to the promised land when he was 75, taking with him his wife Sarah and his nephew Lot. - German history painter, the main exponent of renaissance painting in Prussia. M. was taught painting since 1578 at the court of the emporer in Prague where he copied many works by Dürer. Influences of Venetian and Flemish masters can be found in his art but is is inknown if he really travelled. He created many altar pieces and epitaphs in Gdansk and East Prussia. Mus.: Gdansk (Nat.
