Austrian figure, still life and church painter, brother of the architect Ludwig Z. He studied 1877-82 at the Vienna academy among others under C. von Blaas and Ch. Griepenkerl. He created many altar paintings and church frescoes but became most popular with lovely depictions of graceful young woman, subjects reproduced in great number for bedrooms in the early 20th cent.
