Italian history a. portrait painter from a family of artists. B. was taught painting in the workshop of his father Jacopo del Ponte Bassano. In 1588 he moved to Venice as did his older brother Francesco before. He received many commissions, among others for the Doges palace, the important fraternità a. churches but also for portraits.
