Anselm Feuerbach (Speyer 1829 - Venedig 1880) - Sell & Buy
One of the most important German history painters and draftsmen of the 19th century, a nephew of the philosopher Ludwig F. Due to his outstanding talent the artist went to the Düsseldorf Academy as early as 1845 without graduating from school, where he studied with G. von Schadow and W. Schirmer, among others. He continued his education in Munich, Antwerp and Paris. On a trip to Italy in 1856 he found his monumental style in subdued coloration. After turning down several offers, he accepted a professorship in Vienna in 1873. Throughout his life he commuted between his German and Italian studios.
