Oil/canvas. 61 x 50,5 cm. Rims timmed. Van der Hoecke's series of sibyls without older iconographic models developed into such a sales success that the artist repeated the motifs several times. Recently, Jan van der Hoecke could be identified as the artist for these motifs, which were attributed to different pupils of Rubens and van Dyck in the past. - Literature: J. He went to Italy after 1635 and then to Vienna, where he became court painter to Archduke Leopold Wilhelm and returned with him to Antwerp in 1647.
