Around 1900. Bronze, brown patinated. H. 35 x w. 16 x d. 25 cm. Sign. Rud. Hölbe Dr(esden), on the front side inscribed 'Der erste Kampf um's Dasein'. A naked boy sitting on a naturalistic plinth. In his left hand he holds a piece of bread on which a fly is sitting. - A few years ago, the corresponding plaster model from the estate of Hölbe's grandson was offered on the auction market - German sculptor, studied in Leipzig and Dresden, since 1886 he produces mythological and historical sculptures, which have won several prices.
