Paris, around 1880, designed possibly by Louis-Constant Sévin (1821-1888). Elaborate gilt bronze foot on 3 pawn feet, with crowning female busts, flat moulded onyx marble bowl with lateral gilt open-worked handlles with palmette finials. Sign. 'BARBEDIENNE et Cie.'. H. 20,5 cm, w. 38 cm. - Maison Barbedienne was founded in 1834 by Ferdinand Barbedienne (1810-1892) and was one of the most important companies of art bronzes in the 19th cent. in France, the most eminent sculptors of 19th cent. in its day were under contract there.
