Abraham Bloemaert (Gorinchem 1566 - Utrecht 1651) - Sell & Buy
Dutch history painter. B. was initially taught painting by his father, thereafter by several masters in Paris from 1581 to 1585, and shortly by Hieronymus Francken in Antwerp. He worked in Amsterdam and Utrecht where he was co-founder of the St. Luke's guild in 1611. B. is founder and one of the most import masters of the Utrecht painter's school. The Utrecht caravaggists H. ter Bruggen, G. van Honthorst and J. van Bijlert were among his pupils as were C. van Poelenburgh, J. C. Cuyp and J. B. Weenix.
